What Is Housetraining A Dog All About
When there are so many dog owners around it is all too easy to assume everyone knows the basics of house training dogs. The reality is that there are a lot of people who have grown up in a family without dogs and do not have the familiarity with pet dogs and do not know the basics. Here I will try to keep things simple but explain the basics of house training a dog.
We are all wild animals at heart and humans have developed sophisticated lifestyles and behaviours that we are taught from birth. We understand the concept of a home but as babies we do require diapers until the child is old enough to know what to do and where to go.
It is the same with a young puppy. They do not have any control of their motions and do not yet know they should go to a certain area to do their business. House training a puppy is all about teaching them how to behave indoors. This mainly refers to where they mess but it also applies to the other rules of the house such as, not chewing the furniture.
Puppies are you and ignorant at first but they can be quick to learn and it is your job as a responsible pet owner to educate them in the ways of the world. Basic house training will come first and when they mess or look uncomfortable you should take them to the area you have selected and congratulate them for being there especially if they do their business.
They will soon learn that it makes you happy when they go there and will start to make attempts to do their messing in the right place. There will be the occasional mistake but avoid the temptation to get annoyed and just keep taking them to the right area and congratulating them.
